Hypnotic Remission
By Lloyd L. Haymon BS, C.Ht.

I am forever being suprised by the awesome power of the Human Mind. The ability of hypnotherapy to allow the client/patient to utilize control of this power amazes me also.

All of us when we were in school heard stories about how hypnosis had caused such and such a thing to happen. Many of these stories we simply took with a pinch of salt and went on our way.

Now that I am a practicing and successful Hypnotherapist, I also have stories to tell and they amaze me as I write of them.

I have found that one does not always have to be in the chair or on the couch looking for a "healing of physical illness", for a healing to take place.

This story also shows us the the Power of Words. I stress to all my clients that "Words mean things."

CASE STUDY

A friend of mine, also a Hypnotherapist (part time) referred a friend of hers to me. She was suffering from Bone Cancer and was about to have a Bone marrow transplant (BMT). My friend felt she was too close to the patient and knew that I had been working with several cancer patients to help with pain control.

The patient at the time was 73 years old. She moved easily into hypnosis and seemed to accept the suggestions given. She reported to me several times via the telephone and told me how her pain was being "managed."

My patient called one day and reported to me that her HMO had turned her BMT down. Age seemed to be the main reason for the denial even though a donor had been found and the surgery date had been set. In short the HMO had told her to go home and die.

She came to me for a few more sessions concerning her pain and then I lost contact with her. One day about two months after our last session her physician called my office. He wanted to know what I had "said to her." Her cancer had gone into remission and she was giving me credit for it. I had to call her to ask her what I had done.

MIRACLES AND OTHER GOOD STUFF

She told me that she couldn't really recall everything I had said to her but she did recall one thing ... "You told me that I didn't really need to have this cancer and I said to myself ... "He's right, I don't have the need or the time to have this cancer anymore." Three years have passed since that session and that remission. The power of Hypnosis, the Human Mind, Hypnotherapy is indeed awesome.
